Does Anything Good Come from Nazareth?

First and foremost I thank God for His grace and love. Second, we thank all those who served in our military for our freedom. I have had the blessing to have heard many stories of servicemen and women who have sacrificed a lot, from their lives to just being away from their families.

My grandfather served in the U.S. Navy, Antonio Torres, and by God’s grace he was my family’s ticket here from the Philippines. I was told it was a tough time to be an Asian in the military during WW2, so many Asians served in the kitchen and did the humbling jobs that you wouldn’t write an Academy award winning story or movie about. But maybe one day they will.

I was inspired to write about a lot of things this morning, took a lot of notes, however this one phrase touched my heart the most. And it was what Nathanael said about Jesus, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” So, did a little research on the town where Jesus spent most of his time, and here is a little crumb from God’s table.

So Jesus was referred to as “The Nazarene” or Jesus of Nazareth, and historically, Nazareth was a very poor town.

It is even written in John 1:45 that Philip found Nathanael and told him,

“We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote—Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.” and Nathanael replied, “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?”.

So the question that some may ask, “If Jesus grew up in a poor town does he condone poverty?”.

Well, the answer by revelation is simple, God does NOT condone poverty, however He is an advocate of ORDER. There is something beautiful and wise about embracing these humble beginnings. All great journeys have to start somewhere.

I have overheard a few times that the best officers in the Military were those who were once enlisted.

So I can see how that is, many times it is difficult to be led by someone who has never walked in your shoes.

It’s genuinely about “order” and even though that “Nazareth” is where it all started, it definitely didn’t end there, we all know the rest of the story that eventually changed the world.

Regretfully, I have routinely placed so much emphasis on my circumstances that I often forget what God is doing to my heart. As a believer, I have surrendered my will and given God full consent to humble me in any way He may choose so that I may mature in the Spirit.

So in closing, failures, rejections, poverty, death, betrayal, aches, and pains all have one thing in common, they are all very humbling to me.

But daily, I rejoice, because in my heart, Jesus is no longer that “Nazarene” or “Jesus of Nazareth”, today and forever He is now Jesus, The Christ, my Lord and Savior, my healer, the Son of the living God. #Acts238

Embrace the times when we are humbled, for it draws us nearer to God and God is love. Truly it is difficult to appreciate the finish if we have forgotten where we all have started.

An Introduction to Acts 2:38

Matthew 28:19 NIV

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the NAME of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”

Many misunderstand why we baptize in the name of Jesus Christ, vs Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

Simply, it’s NOT about “having to” but “wanting to”.

It’s about the same love in a marriage where a bride surrenders her surname and identifies with her husband’s name because now, they are one.

We are considered “The Bride of Christ” and it is obvious that Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not “names” but titles.

Furthermore, to baptize in the “name” (singular) of this trinity is to desire to know what that “name” is and what it really means to you. Because despite popular belief, the name “Jesus Christ” wasn’t just a first and last name as many just assume, it was a personal revelation of what “He” meant to you.

I wish that it was all about convincing people with wise and persuasive words, but instead, it’s about the demonstration of the Holy Spirit’s power that draws you to honoring His name in water baptism.

Unfortunately, many didn’t even know that they had a choice to be baptized via Acts 2:38 vs the traditional means.

Remember that evil thrives in darkness “grey areas, lukewarm” or areas that are not well defined, identified or clarified.  For God is not the author of confusion.

In Matthew 16:16, Peter set an example for us by setting himself apart from all other “followers” and declared boldly that Jesus was the Christ, the Son of the living God.

This was not an easy thing to do during that Levitical reign!

You were in grave danger of being stoned to death for publicly making those claims that a carpenter’s son was the Messiah.

So at that time, Matthew 16:16, was where Jesus gave Peter the KEYS of the Kingdom of God, (Nobody else was given these keys!), and Jesus further stated that whatever Peter bound/loosed on earth will also be bound/loosed in heaven!  Jesus also said that “upon this rock I will build my church”.

So what was this “rock”?

This “rock” was upon that sole revelation that Jesus was the Christ and that we should later desire the gift of the Holy Spirit “in us” vs. simply being content with the Holy Spirit just “with us” or “above us”.

So here is the formula which was hidden from the wise and prudent, that the name of Jesus Christ becomes the name of above all names in our heart and lives.

Honoring this name also comes with a promise, and that promise is receiving THE GIFT of the Holy Spirit.

Eliminate the confusion, and make a BOLD spiritual and public statement like Peter and honor the name of Jesus Christ in your baptism.

So does Acts 2:38 contradict what Jesus said in Matthew 28:19?

It does not contradict, because what Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 was like a riddle that needed to be further investigated or revealed. So there is no contradiction, because Acts 2:38 just simply clarified what Jesus said so that there should be no more confusion among us.

But if you are still on the fence, then riddle me this?

If Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit and already possessed the Holy Spirit in Him prior to birth, then what was that “dove-like” Spirit of God that fell upon Him again at age 30 when He was baptized by John? (Matthew 3:16)

Hmm? 🤔

Revelation 3:12

“All who are victorious will become pillars in the Temple of my God, and they will never have to leave it. And I will write on them the name of my God, and they will be citizens in the city of my God—the new Jerusalem that comes down from heaven from my God. And I will also write on them my new name.

Intro to Apology vs Forgiveness

Repentance must always come first…

Some of you have probably heard me say at one time that it is wise to teach how to forgive than to teach how to apologize.

And that is what the Holy Spirit has uttered to me over ten years ago and God has given me wisdom to now understand those words in clarity.

In my personal walk with God, the blessed “Southern Baptists” has coined the phrase in my heart that if one doesn’t accept GRACE, then the LAW remains.

So if we know our “audience” then it is wise to teach both, the power of apology and the power of forgiveness.

So the question is, “when do we know which is best to use?’

Well, it’s a given that exercising forgiveness at any level is extremely difficult without love.

So in simplicity, if we desire an apology, then obviously our hearts are under the law and not grace.  (2Cor3:15)

For a heart under grace, aka “love” according to 1 Corinthians 13, does not keep score nor does it “keep records of wrongs”.

“4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

Unfortunately by default, creation is naturally under The Law.

When Adam fell in Eden, he did not just fail on his own, but all of creation fell with him.

Every atom, every cell and every living creature all by default now has become cursed with a heart under “The Law”.

“The law” meaning that naturally we “keep score” and everything is sacrificial. Therefore, all things has a price tag on it, as Jesus himself was sold out for thirty pieces of silver.

We all inherently believe that it is “an eye for an eye” and a “tooth for a tooth” unless we can become “born-again”.

So because of this, we teach God’s order, which is why “The Laws” via the Old Testament came first before the teaching of the New Testament grace.

Giving someone freedom who is immature is suicide.  So the Old testament was our boot camp for grace, so to speak.

Now God is not the author of confusion. And that anxiety and depression are solely the products of a heart that is confused.

God is about absolutes, there is nothing grey or lukewarm about Him. (Isa45:7)

Now that being said, I would like to use this moment and platform to repent.

To apologize to family, friends, co-workers, The Church body and to The Bride of Christ for where I have failed them.

Looking back, it was solely by God’s grace and love that I even survived the spiritual warfare this far.  I was totally confused and distracted.

Now as for “forgiveness”, I heard a great pastor once say, “If we genuinely understood how hard it is to forgive, then we should never place ourself in a position to expect it.”

But this is why it is called “amazing” grace.

And historically, Jesus started this discipleship and movemment of forgiveness first, yet I feel that most churches had been distracted from this priority.

Yes the laws need to be taught to magnify grace, but once you know both, then we all have the freewill to choose wisely what to exercise and to hold each other accountable and remind each other of God’s love and forgiveness.

So in conclusion, if God’s love is synonymous with forgiveness then per The Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13, he says that even if we could speak in “tongues of angels” but have not love, we have nothing.

So if love is truly synonymous with forgiveness, then despite popular “pentacostal” belief, speaking in “tongues” is NOT the evidence of the Holy Spirit, but instead, our ability to forgive.

We live in an age that is the darkest time in the history of mankind.  And it’s not because of more “evil” deeds or more death, but solely because collectively as a civilization, we are more confused now than ever before and we know who is the author of that.

I am extremely thankful that God gave me an opportunity to be less confused and less distracted these last ten years and to focus more on the “inside of my cup” and to “see” what God is doing to my heart than solely on my circumstances.

In the most Holy and loving name of our Lord Jesus Christ, your brother in our war against sin,

Do Not Fear Those Who Judge Us Before The Appointed Time.

1 Corinthians 4:5 NIV

Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.

If you ever been selected for jury duty, you would know that not just anyone gets selected for a trial.

In fact, many go through a selection process where the attorneys ask these potential jurors a few questions.

Basically, what they are looking for initially, are candidates who can think clear, remain unbiased about an issue and exhibit a form of maturity without any obvious signs of confusion.

They should also be living a life that remotely represents what they believe and is not easily offended.

People that are NOT swayed simply by emotions, or superficial factors like money and popularity.

So the main reason that I brought this topic up is because the Holy Spirit reminded me this morning of this simple wisdom.

He reminded me that if our natural Court systems DO NOT ALLOW these confused people to judge others, THEN WHY DO WE allow these same confused people judge us as if their opinions matter?

Sadly, it is those who are confused the most who judge others the most.

Because if they truly understood what was the issue, they would be led by compassion to NOT cast judgement, but to show mercy.

“Confused people are not fit to judge others in a court of law, let alone judge the body of Christ.” – MMA

1 Corinthians 2
“14The person without the Spirit does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God but considers them foolishness, and cannot understand them because they are discerned only through the Spirit. 15The person with the Spirit makes judgments about all things, but such a person is not subject to merely human judgments,”

Brothers and sisters,

In the name of Jesus Christ, be freed from the fear of our external critics.

We have only one critic in Christ, Jesus and He is our judge, jury and advocate/attorney.

So let us remember that the evident signs of confused individuals are those who are quick to judge.

John 8 NIV

9At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11“No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,”Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Intro: The Law vs. Love.

Jesus speaking to Judas on His LEFT (The Law) vs Peter on His RIGHT (God’s Love). We are The 490.

In Matthew chapter 18, starting justly at verse 21(with both numbers 18 & 21 being key reminders in our society as mile markers for maturity.)

Now after Peter asks Jesus how often he should forgive someone who sins against him (i.e. 490), Jesus tells the story of a servant whose massive debt is forgiven by the king, but who then refuses to forgive a smaller debt owed to him and is tortured for it.

The core message of this story is that God will forgive all sins, and we should too.

Now notice also that this story was told gently to disciple and to instruct Peter who is the only one who holds the keys to “unlock” the Kingdom of God.

Now we all heard this story, and COINCIDENTALLY at VERSE 33, which is also a number of MATURITY, Jesus ends this story with this in Matthew 18,

“33Shouldn’t you have mercy on your fellow servant, just as I had mercy on you?’ 34Then the angry king sent the man to prison to be tortured until he had paid his entire debt.

35“That’s what my heavenly Father will do to you if you refuse to forgive your brothers and sisters from your heart.”

Two “KEY” Elements Here!

  1. Notice Jesus’ reference to “my Father” as to A FATHERS LOVE. Jesus is like, “I wouldn’t do that, but my Father would!”. Once again, the mystery of the TRINITY is about God’s love with 3 different “intimacies” with man. (The love of a Father, the love of a Friend and finally the love of a Husband as a symbol of marriage as the two becoming one via the Holy Spirit.) It’s God above us, with us and now, in us.
  2. Second, it is a simple story of The Law vs. God’s Love. If we live by the “Levitical” SWORD we are at EXTREME RISK of DYING BY IT!

Yes, the sword is God’s Word, but like the Holy Trinity, it too has three uses or purposes! And it is HOW we individually choose to use God’s Word from our HEARTS(Mark 4:24 & Matthew 7:2), is what Jesus was speaking of. Are we stuck on former things and have neglected the more important latter purpose?

He again reminding us, “beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and saduccees,” as trying to achieve change from the outside first before a change of heart. Are we making the same mistakes as they did by seeking perfection on the outside and neglecting the perfection and maturity that is sown from love, forgiveness and mercy? (Hosea 6:6 NLT)

Once again, if we CANNOT ACCEPT GOD’S GRACE fully, then The LAW REMAINS.

And The Law is NOT PRETTY. Its a Father’s Love! The “fear” of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom! Proverbs 9:10 (Notice that “10” is there as a reminder of The Law)

I said once, that if we find ourselves unappreciative or dis-content of our NEW and IMPROVED home, we may need to GO BACK and spend some time and reflect a bit where our OLD home was! And many of us are there right now, INVOLUNTARILY!

Likewise, if we cannot appreciate or understand fully the NEW testament, we may need to read up on the OLD testament a bit.

And that pretty much sums up mankind. It is healthy to know where our hearts are from time to time. The knowledge of good and evil required this MATURITY prior to us desiring to eat of it. Like the Yin/Yang, its embracing both, BUT its one or the other!

There are NO gray areas! Gray and lukewarm are NOT signs of balance and of being content, but signs of complacency and CONFUSION!

It’s not one foot in the Law and one foot in God’s love, or one foot in Egypt and one foot in the Promised Land, or one foot in slavery and another in freedom! that’s being “lukewarm“, those are signs of being in the WILDERNESS and the WILDERNESS was God’s people being in a state of confusion!

If we cause others to STUMBLE because of our gray or lukewarm state, Jesus said we might as well have placed a stone around their neck and had thrown them into the sea!

Notice The “HINT” Jesus gives us about our “bodies” being in a state of confusion or as a stumbling block to others about The Law vs. Love. That if one hand or one eye or foot causes us to be in conflict of any part of God’s love or grace, that we should CUT IF OFF!

This was a practice under the law at one time and a clear sign of this confusion. Those body parts maybe parts of us that still cannot let go of “The Law”. Parts of our past that we fully have not “let go” or forgiven. Parts of our minds and hearts that still struggle with works and desiring to earn God’s grace versus us simply receiving it freely as a gift.

A heart that still looks at peoples “sins” versus their “sin” singular. There is something about being separated from God that leads us to a life of confusion that is then manifested in our life as the sins we know via adultery, homosexuality, gambling, alcoholism, abuse, lying, stealing, etc. Those are all just the attributes of “sin”, however it is NOT the “sin” that Jesus chose to FIX first!

Clean the cup in the inside first, then the outside will eventually become clean! Fix our separation from God FIRST by addressing our ORIGINAL sin caused in Eden, and then we will see a genuine transformation in each other’s hearts and lives.

The “parts of the body” that Jesus speaks of could also be parts of The Church. It also could be those in our inner circle, like a Judas. People in our homes, community, work and those whom we socialize regularly. It could also be our cell phone, TV, or our home computer.

But whomever these “parts” represent, may we have the faith to remove them from our lives temporarily until we can have the maturity and compassion to have them as a part of our lives without causing any confusion in us and in others.

There are no accidents in God’s plan. If our hearts still live in the Law, Satan is like a lion waiting to devour us! Hurry up and crossover to God’s grace and love where we can now intentionally and willingly visit The Law anytime as a “visitor” or guest of honor so to speak, protected by Gods PERFECT/MATURE love where there is NO MORE FEAR of punishment, amen?

Confusion needs a Fathers love, then soon after, God via Jesus comes as a friend and now we are less confused, but then He leaves us with one more task, to draw even nearer as to DESIRE the Holy Spirit dwelling in us and to not be simply content with it being above us or simply with us.

And this latter love is God’s unconditional love which symbolizes Christ’s marriage to The Church. It’s a mature and perfect love, it gives us this “peace” Jesus spoke of in John 14:26-28. Now this “peace” may not always change our circumstances but it will definitely change our heart and this is God’s will and divine order.

Forgiveness no more lives above us or with us, it now lives in us! From confused, to less confused to now having peace in Christ Jesus our Lord. A peace that comes from a desire to try to understand it all or simply not to.

Praise God.

Faith IS an Action.

I asked God that I wished I had more time, and He replied, “You think you need more time, but what you really need is more faith.”

And when I look back, I did waste a lot of time over thinking things and did very little.

And where I did have the faith to “rise up and go” to do something, it was not really faith at all, just complacency.

That’s my prayer for us all.

Faith, hope and love are actions. Those things inspire us to do good works or “acts”. #acts2:38

Confessing with our mouths that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior is an action.

Raising our hands or walking up to answer an altar call is an action and finally being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ is also an action or work.

Now allow me to FINALLY CLARIFY that these “works” DO NOT save you!, however, it is our FAITH IN these “things” that does.

Luke 17:19 NIV
“Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

So when you have the FAITH to step into His presence today, please remember us all.

God’s speed and love, in the name of Jesus Christ, your brother in our war against sin,

My Birthday Message

Thank you all,😀😍

When I was a kid, I rarely if it all envisioned what and where I would be at 46, lol

But if today was my last day on Earth, I would be so very thankful for all that God had allowed me to experience regardless of the labels of what the knowledge of good and evil has placed on everything.

I had said this before, but it remains my heart to this day, that even though I did not possess the maturity for all of my blessings, God still allowed me to be a husband, father, brother, son, friend, and most of all, the highest honor in being a servant to His Kingdom and His people.

I missed the reminders of maturity that God had placed so obviously in my life at 18, 21, and 33. Sadly, this world has found a way to celebrate these ages with just more immaturity! Go figure.

But that’s the definition of Satan’s deception and better late than never and that is my goal with what is left in my life.

Our maturity aka self discipline, not only benefits us, but ALL that rely on us for faith, hope and God’s love.

And remember Job, that in God’s time, it’s never too late.

Because what we double bogey or lose on the front 9, God always finds a way to restore it exponentially on the back “9”, (lil golf terminology). 😉

I hope and pray, that my life is a reminder of God’s love in this manner and that truly God makes all things new.

Thank you all again 490, for your faith, hope and love for God and each other.❤️

In the name of Jesus Christ, whom by the Father’s will that we must honor in all that we do in word or deed.

Amen.

Your brother in our war against sin.

Fasting.

FOR THOUGHT:

What if involuntarily our food was taken away? What if like a child, the things that we abused, God took them away from us?

Would that show any self control or will power, what lesson would that teach us? Not much would it?

But what if like a good parent, that instead of taking everything away that led us astray, we took the time to teach self control, self-discipline and initiative.

What if we were taught to know when to say when and the understanding of the meaning of moderation? Wouldn’t that be better?

Likewise, what if God didn’t take away every desire we had that caused us to SIN?

What if the things that plagued our weaknesses daily were a TEST of our self control?, of our faith?

For where there is much weakness, there is much grace. Could this be what the apostle Paul meant in II Corinthians?

Could it be that God’s strength is made perfect in our weakness?

For when we are weak in ourselves, we are strong in the Spirit.

For where is the glory if the things that are so tempting were taken away?

But how glorious it would be to God that in the midst of good and evil, we can still choose good!

This is the lesson of fasting as well as the lesson of our existence.

Fasting was never how the world or the denominations has taught us, it is surely something supernatural, it is a reflection of what was and what is to come.

It what was lost in Eden, a body that relied on the Word and not the world.

MY PRAYER:

My Lord, I fast because I live in a generation that abuses food. I fast because I live in a world where I have a greater chance of dying from obesity than malnutrition.

I fast because although I have chose many times to feed my body, today I desire to feed my soul. I fast because the food of this earth is Satan’s tool in holding captive my 5 senses, but most of all, the God given senses that this world has forgotton.

Finally my Lord, I fast in your honor. For as you fasted for 40 days and 40 nights, being hungry, you told Satan, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”.

So I ask you to help me understand this scripture, for there was a time in Eden, where the only food that this body needed was your fellowship. So as I begin to wage war against my own body through this fasting, I ask you to help me fast in secret according to your Word, for the only one that needs to know, knows already.

In the name of Jesus Christ, your brother in our war against sin.

Amen.

The Martial Arts Comes Back to the MMA.

Good Morning Church Body,

Now let us open the Word of God as we step into His presence.

Isaiah 40 ESV (Where 40 means a period of trials or testing)
“28Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
29He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
31but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.”

The word “wait” in verse 31 has been translated interchangeably in other Bible versions as “hope” and “trust”.

I say this, because this is a clear indictment to us believers of who we “wait, trust and hope” in.

If you were to wait on me, you will wait forever.

If we wait on people or creation, we may never get the validation or encouragement from them to do anything.

But those who “wait” on the Lord, WILL renew their strength, mount up with wings like eagles, etc. etc.

Don’t even wait on your home, or the local church!

Wait on God.

And where your love language is, is where He will speak to you intimately, loud and clear.

If your spouse is truly one with you, then he or she will patiently wait with you.

The fault or the deception that Satan has on mankind is that he will intercept God’s glory everytime if we allow him to.

For once, let us give honor where honor and credit is due. To focus on the Creator and author vs creation and His writings alone.

Satan’s heart defined.

Isaiah 14 NIV
“12How you have fallen from heaven,

morning star, son of the dawn!

You have been cast down to the earth,

you who once laid low the nations!

13You said in your heart,

“I will ascend to the heavens;

I will raise my throne

above the stars of God;

I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly,

on the utmost heights of Mount Zaphon.

14I will ascend above the tops of the clouds;

I will make myself like the Most High.”

15But you are brought down to the realm of the dead,

to the depths of the pit.”

Once again, don’t allow Satan to sell us what God has already paid for in full on Calvary.

In His most Holy name, Jesus Christ.

Your brother in our war against sin.

Amen.

My 2019 Poem of Love.

We have all felt the hurt, the pain the betrayals. However I always find a way to make them out as mere fables.

Seek professional help and trust a stranger, share your darkest secrets with a psychological “re-arranger”.

But I prefer to trust a person’s spirit, not a certain look or credential, because who can be worthy of my trust? Who can measure up to my potential?

Maybe I am crazy, a freak that is mental, maybe it is okay to feel like a rental?

So I became numb, a devil without a cause, an emotional wreck full of junk parts in my garage.

Years of collecting and no where near curating, a Smithsonian of feelings in no particular order. A psychological disarray, a spiritual hoarder.

A self-diagnosis is what I have found, from a foundation of love which was on holy ground.

The antidote was love in any shape and or form and to gravitate there to allow me to mourn.

We all possess love, even though we feel rejected, because love is still love even though it’s misdirected.

So if I can offer you hope in this very moment, to always trust love as a sacrifice for our atonement.

The scriptures are true that we have loved darkness over light, but it’s still love that has drawn us not power or might.

So allow me to save you from paying for your cure, it’s a heart of love that we desire that must be willing to mature.

So if love guides our way or leads us astray, God is always love and He would not have it any other way.

Like children, a life lived without not even one label, a life lived blind to the knowledge of good or evil.

A life like a song which is beyond right or wrong, a life that is full of faith, hope and love is where we all belong.

The good and the evil, both can draw people to Christ, but why is it often the darkness that brings people to light?

Sadly the answers we search lie already in our heart, it’s just our inability to be still and reverend is what keeps us apart.

Received a quote from a friend, like how a dog waits for crumbs. . .

“We only dwell on the bad memories in life, because we lack the faith to create better ones.”

So what I give here remains without cost or fair price, because all debts have been paid through our Lord Jesus Christ.
